Fast Times at Flatspot Longboards
Summer is coming to an end and some of you are headed back to school. But it doesn’t have to be all that bad and we’ve got just what to you need to cure those back to school blues.
Aloha skaters! As I’m sure you’re all aware, summer is almost over and soon we’ll be back to the usual cold and wet Vancouver we’ve all grown to tolerate. School is back in session and most of you will be taking the bus to and from school but we’re here to offer another option. We’ve mentioned before that you should “Enjoy your commute“, and school should be no different. Whether it’s to and from school ,or in between classes we’ve got you covered on all the goods.
If you’re one for chasing the Never-ending Summer we’d highly suggest checking out the Sidewinder Series from Sector 9. This series features the double pivot, Sidewinder trucks from Gullwing that give some serious turning power. Pair these with a pocket size cruiser and you’ve got yourself an endless supply of tasty waves.
The Sidewinder Series includes boards of all styles if you’re looking for something a little more traditional as well. If you’re wanting a longer deck might we suggest hoping on a Tempest or Shoots. Either way you’ll have plenty of versatility with any deck you choose, but we’ve favor the decks with a kicktail.
We took these boards out to one of our favorite spots, Seylynn Skatepark to really put these trucks to work. The high bank walls of the snake run was a perfect place to GET PITTED! Beyond the super carvy trucks, Sector 9 always pairs their completes with a wheel that compliments the board style. We were loving the amount of sideways we were getting. Having a good all around setup is key for not only enjoying your ride, but dodging those pesky pedestrians.
If the Sidewinder truck just isn’t your steeze, fear not! Theres still plenty to choose from with Sector 9’s killer lineup of completes.
Really all skateboarding is about is having fun. So as long as you’ve got a board and 4 wheels under your feet we’re stoked. Beyond the skateboard you may want to consider picking up a fresh pair of gloves or pads. No one likes when the homework you turn in is covered in blood from you scuffed hands. Falling is all apart of the sport, so why not protect yourself!
If you’re looking for a little extra swag in your step then why not pick up some fresh socks or maybe a hat? You gotta impress the crowd someone, and it’s most critical on those first few weeks of class.
Once you’re all geared up and ready to unleash mayhem on campus then get to it! While we’re not directly condoning the destruction of private property, it’s a shame school make for such great places to skate.
