Flatspot Longboards Weekly Wrap Up Nov 24th 2015
Its been a good week for the Vancouver scene. A rad Otang video got dropped of a bunch of local rippers, landyachtz is building skateparks, and we beefed out our Clearance Page!
Hello Lovely people of the intertubes! Welcome to the Flatspot Longboards Weekly Wrap Up! Hope you all got rad with your homies this weekend.
This week Orangatang wheels dropped an epic video of the local O-tang crew throwing down in this fine and exceptionally steep city! Our very own team rider Sho Ouellette is featured in there. Along with a bunch of the crew from the The Homies Skate: Alex Gibbison, Anthony Kong, Griffin Gravel, and Ken Komatsu.
This video was released just a week before Orangatang dropped their new wheel: The onsen. Which is their first hard wheel park and tech slide. If you look closely, you will get a chance to see the onsens in action. Orangatang has always had the most fantastic names for their products. Traditionally the word Onsen refers to volcanically heated Japanese bath houses. Why did they choose that name? We have no idea, but its weird and zany, just like the whole O-tang crew. So in that sense it kinda makes sense. Keep posted for when we start carrying the Onsen!
Another fantastic video that highlights this beautiful coast and the rad community we have came from Landyachtz. A few years ago Landyachtz traveled out to Ahoushat first nations territory to hold a longboard workshop for the local youth. Ahoushat is a remote town on Flores Island just north of Tofino BC, with more than 40% of the population under 19 years old! With so many young people this community has the potential to experience great benefits from the free and unrestricted play possible with a few skateboards and longboards.
With the help of Beth Luchies, the local youth counsellor for Nuuchhnulth Tribal Council, the program was a great success and Landyachtz returned to vancouver with a vision to build a skatepark in Ahoushat. Since then they have launched a wonderful fundraising campaign to fulfill this dream, and in the first week have raised $10,000 USD! Which is incredible! So please take some time to review their fundraiser and, if you are able, contribute.
This week seems to be the week of rad videos! But this one isn’t just about our local scene, and its not out yet. We are stoked to announce that we will be hosting an opening screening of Venoms feature film EAT SHIT. So make sure roll to Flatspot on December 19th! Zak, Rolo and Dubes are gonna ball out and fly up for the screening. Check out the facebook event HERE!
The event will start at 7pm. The screening will start shortly after, and in true flatspot party fashion we will then party till the sun comes up. We will be announcing other events for that weekend with the Venom Crew.
And on top of all this we have been adding more epic deals to our clearance page! This Longboard Larry Chupacabra complete has been put on clearance. Gnab this bad boy and rip it before someone else does!
