Flatspot Weekly 09.02.2016: Subsonic Skateboards, Highway Jam V, Dave’s Hippy Oil and Duck Pucks!

So many rad things have been happening lately! This weekly post is filled with rad new gear we are amped to have on our shelves.

Here is a brief overview of what we are stoked on:

• Subsonic Skateboards! Made from blood, sweat and beer, these handmade boards are the dank.
• Highway Jam V! The hills are calling, we must go to them.
• Dave’s Hippy Oil! The miracle elixir that all skaters should have with them on the road.
• Duck Pucks! They are pucks that are shaped like ducks, its pretty great.

Subsonic Skateboards

Nothing stokes us out more than knowing that there are still boards made from the blood blood sweat and tears of broke-ass skaters. And these dudes have been doing it since 1999! Back when a drop deck was extremely hard to find and downhill longboarding was a kooky little cult (not that its not still a kooky cult, its just bigger now).

A plastic mini may be cheap and trendy, but these boards are built to last and are made on the coast. Because Subsonic does their wood staining by hand, each board will have a slightly different graphic.

Subsonic was also the main sponsor of the Britannia Classic in 2015 , and has shown a high level of commitment to the longboard community and all our silly shenanigans. In any case, we are stoked to have this quality wood on our shelves and we hope you take the chance to shred one!

Highway Jam V

The format of the event is simple. We jam a full size school bus with as many people as we can fit (which is 50). The bus then takes us all to three or four locations where we skate. We spend a good portion of the day without any access to public transit. That means once you get on the bus, you’re on it till it gets back into the city. So be prepared to get rad and have fun all day!

We supply lunch and water. BUT OUR SUPPLIES ARE NOT BOTTOMLESS. Bring extra water and food! You will not be able to buy food or drinks.

Dave’s Hippy Oil
