Salt Spring Slasher 2023 Photos

Throwback Thursday is running on Island Time, but delivering all the fun memories thanks to the Salt Spring Slasher and some great photos by Jessy Stolz. Peep the recap and the photos!

Although it had a late start for registration, Slasher came together just in time for Aug 19-20th, 2023and really couldn’t have been better. This was the first time back since 2019. None of it would have been possible without the dedication of locals like Max Kaye, Phillip Elsser and the Coast Longboarding community. We got tons of runs, a great race, incredible camping, heaps of food and the best of times. It was actually one of the best reunion weekends in a long time, with faces new and old coming together.

Aside from endless runs, Salt Spring is an incredible weekend getaway. We cooked out, swam in the ocean and the lake, threw axes, and came together as a community – even with a fire ban! We of course also have to give thanks to all sponsors, competitors, freeriders, and volunteers for making it such a great weekend. And thanks to Jessy Stolz for the photos to remember it by. We definitely tried to jam as many as we could in here!

The race was tight and really anyones to take, but Nick Jean, previous champion, was in the house and definitely a favorite. There was a ton of possibilities though with Dexter Manning, Alex Hannigan, Cam Brick, Mike Fitter, Cody Yardwaste and more in the mix. When all was said and done, Nick took the cake!!!
