Flatspot Longboards – Skoa Trucks

Skoa Trucks have stormed the Downhill world since they came on the scene. They make amazing trucks and stick by their riders.

Skoa Trucks have finally arrived and we couldn’t be more stoked. For those wondering or simply out of the know, Skoa heils from the land of bratwurst and beer. Oh and I guess the Germans have also been known for their engineering. However, they have made the leap across the pond and have firmly planted their feet in Vancouver as their North American home base. Uwe Homme is the engineering brains behind the operation, and he has grown a team of highly skilled and articulate riders to help hone and continually improve their truck design.

With such a variety of riding styles our there today, Skoa offers two distinct truck models to cater to different crowds.

Stream 7’s:

The Stream 7 has been designed with a low axle offset and zero rake hanger paired with a 46 degree baseplate. In laymans terms, this means that the Stream 7 has very direct and grippy feal. Once you pick a line, you are dedicated to it. With such little axle offset and zero rake, the Stream 7 is a naturally very low and stable truck.

The other defining feather of the Stream 7 is the hangers I-Beam design. Without getting too technical, I-Beams make the Stream 7 hanger as strong & as light as possible.

Vapors:

The Vapor has been designed as Skoas more carvey/freeride oriented truck, equipped with a 47 degree baseplate. Designed to run a tall bushing boardside paired with a regular or tall bushing roadside, the Vapors ride taller and have more dive than their Stream 7 counterpart. They are also designed with more axle offset and a small amount of rake in a flippable hanger. Having a raked hanger gives the Vapor a much more “flowy” feeling. Where you might feel “glued” to your line with Stream 7’s, Vapors offer more ability to change lines and re-adjust.

The Pivot Cups:

Skoa has put a lot of solid effort into developing a pivot cup that won’t need to be immediately replaced upon purchase. It’s thick, made a of high quality urethane and does an excellent job of vibration dampening. After prototyping spherical pivots, Delrin and other hard plastics, it was decided the urethane cup provided the best balance of dampening while still precisely translating rider movement.
