SLIME BALLS LIGHT UPS: OG SLIME GLOW IN THE DARK LED WHEELS

As winter starts to set it in, it’s time for a little more fun. It’s dark when we leave for work and dark when we come home, so what better way to roll up and smoke these short days than with some Slime Balls Light Ups Wheels! The Slime Balls Light Ups come in the OG Slime Shape and right now we’re loving the 60mm 78a, Glow in the Dark Weed Leaf model. These wheels are all fun and come in an ‘Ounce’ style custom printed plastic zip up baggie, along with a special smoke Slime Balls sticker and a perforated product info card ready to tear up and twist into perfect filters – hilarious! We love gimmicks and these ones are on point, so we had to take some photos of them and share them with you.

Skateboard gimmicks come in all shapes, sizes, styles, colors and ridiculousness. Whatever it takes to keep things fresh and fun because skateboarding isn’t supposed to be all serious. One of our favorite Love Letters To Skateboarding (RIP Grosso) is all about gimmicks. Nothing is new when it comes to gimmicks and as Grosso lays out, it started with graphics and stickers, because neither of those will make you a better skater, but they do make skateboarding more fun!

That’s not to say anything bad about gimmicks. Skateboarding is supposed to be fun and fun can only be defined by the person whose having it. We’ve got flint in pucks to make sparks when you slide hands down thanks to Seismic and we’ve got flint in little tail skids that spark thanks to Tail Devil. But we also have skids, rails, grip and other things that come in all kinds of shapes and colors just for fun too. Not everything has to be purely functional… just FUN-ctional.. bah ha ha… So why not light up wheels? It’s not a new concept, but thankfully NHS is keeping it going with the Slime Ball Light Ups.

Light Ups come as Slimeballs OG Slime. The shape is a versatile, symmetrical center bearing cruiser wheel with soft, 78a urethane. While OG Slime come in sizes as small as 54.5 and large as 70mm right now, these Light Ups are 60mm and 78a Durometer.

These particular wheels are the Slime Balls 60mm Light Ups OG Slime Glow in the Dark wheels with a green tint, a smoke slime graphic, weed leaf road surface prints, and printed baggie packaging. Purely fun… but also functional as these wheels are perfect for cruising around town, especially during these shorter, darker winter days. These wheels will bolt onto any cruiser, longboard or skateboard with standard or reverse trucks. You don’t need any special tricks or trucks to make these work. Slime Balls Light Ups wheels feature LED lights that light up when you roll, powered by the rotation of the special wheel spacer and wheel core. No batteries required. Glow in the dark urethane is charged by rolling and glow bright, even after you stop. So pick your favorite setup and swap these bad boys on and head out for some fun.

These Light Ups wheels also come with removable / replaceable Bronson Speed Co. G2 bearings. So they roll fast and light up bright! Just remember, special spacers are required to make them work, so don’t lose the ones that come with the wheels. And, if they aren’t lighting up just right, your axle nuts may need to be tightened fully for proper light ups operation. Ask us if you need help. Additionally, if you find you get your bearings a little wet and/ or dirty sometimes, you can use a little 99.9% rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to clean the bearing spacer and the metal fins inside the core of the wheel We have found this to bring much of the life back to the LED if they seem to be slow to operate or dim.
