Three New Impeccable Rocket Longboards Available!

Rocket Longboards has launched three new models in the past couple months and we are landing them in Canada now! Come aboard and check out the Excalibur Bumpy Hales Pro, Antoine Carlotti Leon V2 Pro and the Simplex.

Can you even believe it! Rocket Longboards put one of the thickest, baddest line ups into orbit for their 10th Anniversary and have just come back at it with stellar new ships to add to their fleet. The Don in particular was an incredible evolution with predrilled holes for weights and one of the smallest production platforms we’ve ever seen. Then they expanded on the Rhino to offer the “Race tail” with a built in torque block, another industry first, and added a tail to the Rhino for a Rhino “Kicktail”. Well, here we are peaking on summer and Rocket has delivered on the new.

Antoine Carlotti Leon V2 Pro

The Antoine Carlotti Leon V2 Pro ultimately incorporates the best of the Leon V1 and some things learned with the Rhino Kicktail. The new Leon has been refined to be smaller, stiffer and of course, faster. Here’s what Rocket had to say:

The Leon V2 is the natural transformation of the Leon, elaborated with our team rider Antoine Carlotti. Like the chameleon itself, it changes and adapts better to its environment. It’s now smaller, stiffer, and made to go faster. It moves away from its former freeride/freestyle self and becomes now a modern race board. With its tail the Leon still retains some of its old genes and remains extremely versatile.

Fun fact: Very few people know that the Rhino was originally developed from one of the first Leon prototypes. The new Leon V2 combines the best of both boards: an ultra-comfortable concave that you immediately feel at home on, speed stiffness, a tail, and everything in a size that fits perfectly with narrow race trucks. Thanks to the rocker and very mellow wheel flares at the front and a micro drop at the back, the board locks you in perfectly.

The shape is designed so that you can stand exactly on the front truck. The integrated footstop holes help you not have to drill any additional holes yourself. You can shred the board directly and even play around with different positions.

Bumpy Hales Excalibur Pro
What in the heck is going on here?! when the Don dropped we knew Rocket was serious about producing unique pro model skateboards that were truly designed around the needs of their riders. That’s not to say their other models were not custom and original, but they fit a more typical equation with limits for a deck. The Don, and now the Excalibur sit outside these limits and are truly pushing limitless design around individual rider ergonomics… which may or may not pan out well for Rocket economics… what do you think? Camber? Yes, camber. Bumpy Hales thinks outside the box and this shows in his pro model. This board is different, but not for the sake of being different. When it works and feels so good, you just have to break the boundaries of conventionality.

The Excalibur has a mellow elliptical concave overall and a light and wide W at the back. We’ve seen something like this before. The revolutionary innovation is under the front foot. A very light camber between the ball of the foot and the heel tilts the foot slightly forward. The concave at the heel is kept very minimal and rises under the toe. Together with the slightly deeper front flushcut, it helps to shift the rider’s weight forward and increases control and stability in the tuck and slides. At the same time, it gives the foot a slight pressure into the foot stop and ensures perfect contact. So simple and yet so effective.

Bumpy himself has always cut his previous boards asymmetrically. Since we know that not everyone likes asymmetrical boards, we decided to add cut lines to the bottom at the front. This means that everyone, whether goofy or regular, can tailor their board to Bumpy’s example.

This board rides even better with a weight. That’s why two mounting options for our Gravity Plate or other weights are already drilled in.

In the end, the result is a board that is just like Bumpy: completely unique and absolutely game-changing.

Simplex

Aside from the limits of pressing and shaping, Rocket Longboards is also trying to push the limits of construction. While the previous two models have been similar to the current tried and true Rocket layup, the Simplex is again going on a tangent (wait, no, thats loadeds new board maybe?! ha ha) and comes with a new construction and very specifically thought out shape and finishing. The Simplex CAN NOT be chopped or redrilled. So Check the specs and just know there is no adjusting. Read on to find out what Rocket is up to with this deck:

A board so simple but yet so complex. LAF (light as f**k) construction is back: water and bomb proof and only 2.65 lbs / 1.2 kg light. With a very simple but effective concave that leaves all options open to the rider.

When we designed the Simplex, we had a vision: A very simple board with no distracting features that still feels incredibly good and intuitive. All of this paired with a construction that is completely waterproof and extremely impact-resistant. Thanks to the full urethane edges and inserts in truck holes and footstop holes, nothing can harm this board. But because it is also not choppable or redrillable, even more thought went into the shape and the position of the holes. The result is a board that does not require any modification of the dimensions. At the same time, however, all options are open to adapt the concave completely to the rider’s wishes. The Simplex is equipped with our signature mellow elliptical concave. This combines the board feel of a radial concave with the locked-in feeling of a tub concave. Added to this is a mellow W at the back, very minimal flairs at the front, and a mellow rocker. Nothing that bothers you, but everything you need.

To properly present this new board, we sent our youngest team rider Andréas Bouclier together with Barthélemy Rigaud to the French Alps to shoot a video for it. The result is a 7-minute masterpiece that premiered at the Downhill Skate International Film Festival (DOSIF) in Lyon end of June 2024.
