Tribe Longboards
Tribe Longboards are made by hand start to finish. The wood is felled and planed by hand. Pressed and finished by hand. The last touch of the graphic is carefully applied, all by the same pair of hands. Made in the interior of BC, these boards are worth a look.
Most of the time when someone says that they build thier own longboards I immediately imagine a million different gimmicky, somewhat kooky, and usually disfunctional shapes or a massive array of pintails. Tribe longboards consistently produces a unique, awesome, and absolutely exquisite board from its inception in 2009. The wood is felled and planed by hand, and the boards are pressed, finished and carefully burnt, all by the same pair of hands.
When surfing was kicking off, little surf towns would have local shapers, who made awesome local boards, often with their own aesthetic twist. Kevin at tribe longboards is a contemporary longboard shaper. They are built thick and made to last, and with fantastic hand done burn graphics, and that is his local twist. Tribe is still a little quiet at the moment, you have to find them on their facebook page, but that is where you will find a better array of their work.
