This retropspective on Jim’s skateboard art bobards the reader wtih colorful skateboard decks, logos, ad art, ad layouts, photos and stickers to illustrate the history of skateboarding from the urethane revolution up to the present. You are invited for a ride, an inside view of Phillips Studios, to observe the wacky world of his crazed studio artists, and examine their graphic assignments. The story traces the roots of skateboarding with more than a half-century of Phillips’ involvement. It provides insight into the creative evolution of the sport and the worldwide interest and influence that has occurred from this California artist.
In 2003 the SKATEBOARDMUSEUM premiered the first exhibition with the title “Skateboard-Fever” focusing on the history, culture and artistic side of skateboarding. Diving deeper into the many facets of skateboard history, the SKATEBOARDMUSEUM has hosted various specially themed traveling exhibits in major metropolises around the world.
For the exhibitions the SKATEBOARDMUSEUM had created special zines. Those zines were just available at the shows and in a very limited run. This box-collection contains those zines in an updated version with more exhibits and pictures of the exhibitions.

Warren Bolster master of skateboard photography his photos and stories are just magical. It was his vision and drive that created “the bible” of skateboarding.
Warren’s devotion to building and documenting skateboarding almost consumed him. By 1978, the editorial reigns were passed. However, the legacy of Warren’s work within skateboarding has not been forgotten. Warren Bolster didn’t just capture the rebirth of skateboarding, he captured its true soul.
